The Myers Motor NmG (No more Gas) electric vehicle is a single-passenger, three-wheeled vehicle that has outstanding acceleration, can reach speeds of 70 mph and has a range of 30 miles between charges. A unique driving experience is gained through the NmG’s low center of gravity and its power being delivered via the single rear wheel.
“The NmG fits the way Americans use their cars,” said Dana Myers, president of Myers Motors. “Research shows that 87 percent of all commutes are less than 20 miles and 93 percent of those commutes are with one person only in the vehicle.”
The company calculates that a driver charged 11 cents per kilowatt will pay about 55 cents for the “fill up” that powers the NmG about 30 miles. The pollution-free NmG can be fully recharged in 6 to 8 hours using a 110-volt outlet and less than half that time using a 220-volt outlet.
Myers Motors devoted more than a year enhancing key components of the vehicle, a descendant of a ground-breaking vehicle. Myers Motors’ NmG keeps its ancestor’s stunning exterior unchanged while almost everything under its sleek shell has been upgraded to improve reliability and performance.
The NmG comes in 13 dazzling exterior colors. Standard amenities include:
- Audio System
- Power Window
- Accessory Outlets
- Tilt steering wheel
- 6-cubic-foot trunk
- Heater/defroster
The NmG:
- Has an onboard 110 V charging system

Evaluation vehicles (3) with less than 3000 miles each. Vehicles have been upgraded to brand new specifications, with some battery wear.

There should be a reasonably large, i.e., thousands or tens of thousands of people, that would find this car attractive. Being enclosed it can be used year round in temperate climates and the operational cost cannot be beat. Too bad lithium-ion batteries are not competitively priced yet. This execution of an EV, with only one seat, would seem to me to be primarily limited to use for commuting or shopping by a single person. I would think that a 2 seat version would have greater acceptance. Even many motorcycles can accommodate 2 passengers. Unfortunately I think the pricing reflects too much "old fashioned labor". The Zap Zebra, a 3 wheeled, 4 seat, electric vehicle with a top speed of 40 mph and a range of 40 miles; made in China, at a price under $10,000 would suit my needs better, although I would like a top speed of 55 mph or greater. According to their web site they are now taking reservations for delivery in the U.S. in February 2006.

It’s great that more people are focusing on making better environmental choices. Plus technology is making it more economical now, and that’s what people really notice. Wind energy, solar power, hybrids and zap EV’s, our choices are good. There are now electric cars being sold everyday, you just plug it into a regular power outlet. When people test drive them they say it’s far more fun to drive an EV.
