Automotive Pioneer ZAP (PCX: ZP) of Santa Rosa, California announced the first public showing of its latest vehicles, including the OBVIO! at the 47th Annual San Francisco International Auto Show, November 19-27 at The Moscone Center.
ZAP and OBVIO! have agreed to collaborate in the design and manufacture of high efficiency, high performance urban cars. OBVIO!, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, intends to manufacture two models for export to the USA the model 012, shown above, and the model 828. ZAP will work closely with OBVIO! to ensure these advanced technology vehicles are fully compliant with United States regulatory requirements and will serve as the exclusive representative and distributor for OBVIO! in North America. The 828 is expected to be availble for delivery in the third quarter of 2006 and the 012 in the last quarter of 2007.
Under the terms of the agreement, ZAP is ordering 50,000 vehicles from OBVIO! during the three year period following initial delivery. Given the level of interest ZAP continues to receive from its dealer network coupled with the "greening" of the American market, the partners see growing market demand for fuel efficient cars. According to the Wall Street Journal, the potential market for small, fuel-efficient cars could be as high as one million vehicles per year.

Promises, promises. I'll believe it when I see it.
"The 828 is expected to be availble for delivery in the third quarter of 2006"
"Targeted price US$14.000"
Now it's the fourth quarter of 2007 and according to Zap's webpage, the 828e is still under development, and the estimated retail price is now US$49K. That's more than triple the original target.
